Seed for Schools
Students across Western Australia are growing their own potatoes thanks to the Seed for Schools program. Thanks to the PGA grower funding, the program provides schools with seed potatoes, educational resources for teachers to use in classrooms, and a monthly e-newsletter with gardening tips and stories of progress from participating schools.
Now in its fourth year, with 400+ schools and early childhood learning centres participating, an estimated 5,000 students across WA are busy planting, nurturing and learning about potatoes.
Registered schools receive a pack which includes:
- 20 seed potatoes
- Seed for Schools participation certificate
- The Story of Potatoes reference book
- Bud the Spud Stickers
- Activity Booklets age 2-8 & 8-13
- Educational Matching Card Game

The PGA is proud to support the following charities:
From an early potato growing family at Pemberton until 1952, I have lived in Perth for many years. The facts detailed in your current promotion of the industry reinforce the arguments I frequently and forcefully use when others decry the Potato Marketing system in WA.
Although I live in proximity to a Spudshed outlet, I refuse to enter his premises to support what can easily become a monopoly at the expense of dedicated and committed growers supporting the wider community at local and State level.
